Aix-en-Provence, or simply Aix (Eks) is located in the south of France. It is the former capital of Provence. At my back is the clock tower of the Aix-en-Provence town hall. The clock tower was erected in 1510. Aix-en-Provence is home to the Calissons. It is a French candy similar to the marzipan, but fruitier with candied fruits of usually oranges or melons. It is smooth and really tasty.
At the Place de la Rotonde is the historic Fontaine de la Rotonde. On top of the fountain are three sculptures of female figures representing Justice, Agriculture and Fine Arts. At the bottom are sculptures of lions, sirens, swans and angels on the back of dolphins.
Cathédrale Saint-Sauveur d'Aix-en-Provence or Aix Cathedral is a mixture of Romanesque, Gothic and Neo-Gothic architecture. The Aix Cathedral was built in the 12th century. Noticeable are the four figures representing the four major prophets of the Old Testament: Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel and Jeremiah.
