Buckingham Palace is the London residence and administrative headquarters of the monarch of the United Kingdom. The building is a large townhouse built for then the Duke of Buckinham in 1703. It was referred to then as Buckingham House. It was acquired by King George III in 1761 as a private residence for Queen Charlotte and became known as The Queen's House. Construction for three additional wings took place in the 19th century. In 1837, Buckinham Palace became the London residence of the British monarch.
I had dreams of the royal family peeking through the window and waving at us regular people. It remains a dream, but being here now is reality.
For art enthusiasts, the Queen's Gallery is the main public art gallery of Buckingham Palace. It exhibits works of art from the Royal Collection. The Queen's Gallery is located at the south wing of the Palace.
Just in front of the Buckingham Palace is famed Victoria Memorial, a monument to Queen Victoria. Queen Victoria reigned for more than 63 years. During this period known as the Victorian era, the United Kingdom went through industrial, political, scientific and military change. Her reign was longer than any previous British monarch.

My family at Buckingham Palace. It was like being in front of the White House in the USA, only, the White House is not a royal residence.
