Dublin is the capital and largest city of Ireland. Tracing its roots can be quite a challenge as experts are divided. Some believe that Dublin originated from the Gaels during or before 7th century A.D. Others believe that Dublin traces its origins to the Viking settlers. As the Small Kingdom of Dublin, the city grew and became Ireland's principal settlement following the Norman Invasion. In the 17th century, Dublin became the second largest city in the British Empire. Following the partition of Ireland in 1922, Dublin became the capital of the Irish Free State.

This is the monument to Daniel O'Connell just in front of the O'Connell Bridge. He is known as "The Liberator," he advocated for the complete severance of the Church and the state. He has been elected twice into a seat in the United Kingdom Parliament.

St. Patrick's Cathedral is the national cathedral of the Church of Ireland. Ireland's Remembrance Day ceremonies during November are usually celebrated at the cathedral. Not to be missed during the Christmas season is its carol service, the Service of Nine Lessons and Carols.

This harp-shaped modern bridge, the Samuel Beckett Bridge, was designed by Spanish Architect Santiago Calatrava. He also designed the World Trade Center Transportation Hub in New York City. The harp is a national symbol of Ireland.

Ice cream is a universal source of happiness around the world and Ireland is no exception. Don't forget to try O'Brien's Soft Ice Cream not just at Phoenix Park but everywhere in Ireland. Originally from Italy, Angelo Ferraiolo had a talent for making bellisimo gelato, serving his village of Paterno in 1935. He and his family moved to England in the 1950s and established his business there. The family eventually crossed the Irish sea with the marriage of his youngest daughter Flora to Irish Pat O'Brien. The 1970s saw the merger of O'Brien-Ferraiolo, whipping ice creams to the Irish crowd.

An Ireland visit is just not complete without a sip of a perfectly poured, and perfectly chilled pint of Guinness. The Guinness Storehouse located in Dublin offers tours and of course, a pint of complete happiness served at the Gravity Bar. Gravity Bar has a great view of Dublin.

I love pedestrianized streets. This is Grafton Street where there is shopping, street performers and food trip. People converge and you get to feel the modern city.

I like how Irish my name is and how I see this big chain of pubs "O'Neill's thriving. This is where people "Eat, drink and Enjoy."  My impression of pubs used to be confined to just beer and other drinks. Surprisingly, people can actually dine quality food. They even carry vegan choices. As for the drinks, I have to admit, I can't stay away from Guinness. They don't serve Guinness from where I came from. This is also the place to be for sports-viewing like the World Cup. This is O'Neill's along Suffolk Street just a few blocks from College Green.
