Since the dismantling of the Berlin Wall in 1989, several pieces of the wall found its way around the world.
The City of Manila received a fragment of the Berlin Wall from the City of Berlin in 2014 to mark the vanquished division of Berlin, Germany and Europe. The Philippines is the first Southeast Asian country to receive a fragment of the Berlin Wall. The fragment is now on display at the Bonifacio Shrine beside the Manila City Hall.
